Getting acquainted with the light box

As I mentioned before, I've been bugging Darling Hubby for a light box, in order to give a more professional look to the photography of my pieces. I played around with it a little bit, taking photos of what I've got at hand at the moment. So far so good, but I think I'll have to remember not to use it when it's too dark out, as the overhead incandescent light bulbs seemed to interfere with the look of the full-spectrum lights illuminating the sides. I still had to tweak the photos in photoshop some, but not nearly as much as I used to.

Also, I found that one or two shots per setup were pretty average, where I used to photograph a setup, like, close to 10 times before, due to unwanted shadows, and glaring reflections.

My collection of Lentil Twists, so far. More to come... ;)

I like to stack these four at a time on my wrist

I just Love the pure color of these pearls.

I should get a light box sometime, too....
I made one out of wood and plexiglass. I think I still have it lying around somewhere.

The beads really glow nicely...

You really should. Especially with the type of work you do, it would really show off the details of your art

They do, don't they Phos? Hmm, plexiglass? Was it white? 'Cause I can't see you getting the same result if it was just clear, since you'd get the same result as with no light box...
So um, when are ya gonna start showing off some of your beads, mister? A little birdie told me that you used to work with gemstones once... So, uh, gonna start playing with those stones again? ;)

Wow...I didn't think it was possible for your jewellery to look better!!!

Why thank you Jin! ;)

Well, except for in person, right? LOL!

I turn off my kitchen lights when I use mine, so the lights don't interfere with the lightbox. It made a difference-try it and see.
Playing with my stones, what??

You can get white plexi, but I was using it to trace so I had paper over it anyway.

Eventually I will dig all my stuff out of the pile o' crap in the garage and give it another shot.

These are cruel photographs to show the bracelet addicted! I would like to wear about 16 on one arm! And nice photos. I may succumb to a light box yet!

You're right Miachelle, it did interfere. I'm waiting for nice bright days now. ;)

Phos! 'Sup whit'chyou? I wrote a whole BD post on my other blog, and you haven't even commented on it! :P

LOL Linda! I'm sorry!!! Well, okay, maybe I'm not very very sorry, just a little sorry. It's payback for all the eye candy you dangle before me over at YOUR blog! LOL!
Oh, you'd like it! But you already take fantastic photos.

Very great look. Love your work with lentils. Where did you buy them?
And pics with light box are perfect

Merci Pat. Je t'ai envoyée le lien pour les lentilles. Mais comme j'expliquais, ils sont des États, alors si tu avais de la misère à te les procurer, on pourrait s'arranger!

À Bientôt!
